The labour market has changed radically in recent years. In this new world shaped by dramatic changes in technologies, organizations and society, interdisciplinary skills are key to innovation/career. The Programme in Management Engineering provides such skills by integrating the management of product technologies and production processes with the management of business organizational processes and new business models. Accordingly, the training path of the Master's Degree in Management Engineering is articulated as follows. It integrates traditional basic skills such as quality management and energy management of production systems, production and supply chain planning methodologies, and integrated business management, along with basic interdisciplinary skills related to business analytics and data management models. It also includes specialist skills related to innovative production and innovation management technologies and new business models. The Programme is organised to offer its students the choice between two tracks: Advanced Manufacturing and Operations Management and Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The final exam consists in the writing of a dissertation on a subject chosen by the student among the topics of the Programme. The thesis, produced under the guidance of one or more supervisor/s, is of two kinds: 1) related to a project, an experimentation or a case study; 2) related to basic or applied research theme. Basic prerequisites for both kind of thesis are a relevance of the experience and originality of the work undertaken. The dissertation can also be prepared abroad and can be linked to a traineeship experience following an integrated traineeship plus thesis path. Research dissertations foresee the review of a referee, chosen among other Course’s professors, by means of a seminar. Graduation is awarded in a public Ceremony, based on the oral defence of the work to a graduation committee, which will assign a final evaluation by taking into consideration the candidate’s whole university career.
