SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF DEVELOPMENT

Degree in Sociology and Social Research

2017-2018 – Teacher: Angelo Salento

Semester: I

Credits: 8

The aim of the course is to provide students with the theoretical and methodological tools for the sociological analysis of development, referring in particular to the “Globalization project” (1977-present). Different dimensions of the “globalization process” will be considered: cultural, political, regulative. Particular attention will be devoted to the diffusion of global countermovements, to the sustainability programs and to the rethinking of development.

A specific part of the course will be devoted to the analysis of the cohesion policies and of the problems and perspectives of the fragile areas in Italy.

Learning skills, communication skills and soft skills (proactivity, team-working, problem-solving) will be stimulated and challenged during the lessons.
